• The Appraisal Process - The purpose of this course is to provide students with knowledge and understanding of the appraisal process. This course covers the types of value, the valuation process, general and specific data analysis, residential real estate markets, neighborhood analysis, site and improvement description and analysis and the concept of highest and best use.
• Liability Management for Appraiser - This course will provide knowledge to recognize sources of appraiser liability and obtain general background information of liability issues, understand how compliance with USPAP and Supplemental standards can diminish liability, knowing when to avoid inappropriate employment agreements and learn how to develop appropriate engagement letters, and determine how to react and what to expect if you are sued.

These are the current requirements for renewing your Virginia Real Estate Appraiser license. We will always provide the newest information available and will update the requirements as soon as there are changes.


• To renew your Real Estate Appraiser License in the state of Virginia, you are required to complete 28 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
• Seven of the continuing education hours shall be the National Uniform Standard of Professional Appraisal Practice course or its equivalent.
• Licenses expire every two years. Continuing education must be completed prior to expiration.
• Licensees are recommended to retain a record of continuing education course completion.
